Yang to Speak in UMass Distinguished Faculty Lecture Series and Receive Chancellor's Medal Jianhua (Joshua) Yang Professor Jianhua (Joshua) Yang of the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department has been chosen as one of the speakers in the UMass Amherst Distinguished Faculty Lecture Series, which celebrates the value of academic excellence and recognizes the distinguished achievements of faculty. Those chosen for the series also receive the Chancellor's Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon faculty by the UMass campus. The proposed topic for Professor Yang’s talk is “Towards a Brain-like Computer.” MIE Department Launches Graduate Certificate in Engineering Project Management and Leadership Woodrow Winchester III The Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MIE) Department has recently received approval for its new Graduate Certificate in Engineering Project Management and Leadership (PML) and is launching it in the spring semester of 2020 under the leadership of Dr. Woodrow W Winchester III , an MIE lecturer and director of Engineering Management. The PML certificate is designed to equip professionals in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields with the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies to manage and lead engineering and technology-based projects in a well-rounded way.
